The Story of My Life

French cinema at it's absolute finest. Starring Edouard Baer (looks like a young Alan Rickman) & Marie-Josee Croze. I am a sucker for the set-up of the main character being a failed writer. It is such an easy concept to expand upon. Also, the typical writer character in movies is a shy, introverted type. This allows richness in monologues & personal thoughts. For these two reasons, I could not help being utterly engaged by the main character.

The central idea of the movie is fantastic. It is about fantasy & it's impact upon reality. Baer remains obsessed with a beautiful girl from his university days - Claire. Meeting her indirectly through work has a dazzling effect upon him. The film brilliantly traces the path.

The greatest depiction of the fantasy love-life that clearly resides within all of us. Do not miss the opportunity to view this understated masterpiece if you are so presented. I have seen The Story of My Life three times. Each time I laughed. Each time I was glad for the sitting.
