I was expecting alot from these guys. From the utter brilliance of CNNN, we have this show in its 3rd year. The highpoints of War on Everything, in previous seasons, really came down to Chas & his ridiculous stunts.
This year it seems everyone is joining the party. Result - many half-arse stunts that are only amusing. I am disappointed. The boys admit that travel is often an excuse to film some of their gags. It readily shows. Previously, Firth was the only roving respondent. His segments were the worst of previous seasons. The only amusement came from asking Americans simple questions and getting dumb answers. Now it is half the show. Sorry boys, have been a big fan for many years but this is lazy. This show has never measured up to CNNN. On evidence from this first episode it never will. The beginning of the end for the Chaser. I will be interested come the next federal election but that is too far away. Episode 1 - Glass Onion says : 6

The Chaser generated outcry for the skit of getting Quentin Bryce into the Melbourne Club (episode 1). They threw a doll over the wall. Insert mindless media grabs of outrage over the physical handling of the doll. Predictable. This was an unfunny PC skit in origin. Julian Morrow was forced to comment as such. The entire show (Chaser) was heavily blighted by political correctness. It was barely watchable due to this. Still created controversy. Mega yawn. The old saying of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" does not apply.

Chaser been off air now for two weeks. Their funniest skit so far drew more outrage than previous show. "Make a realistic wish" (episode 2).
The season is just about to wrap up. Apparently their last, whatever that means. I guess it means the last 'War on Everything'. On to bigger & better ideas one hopes. Show got much better as season rolled on. However, poor start (for mine, not at all due to offence. In hindsight, quite clear they erred by actively trying not to offend certain flammable groups. This display of weakness was leapt upon.) weighed the rating down. Another thing that irked (later in the season) was the sudden need to attack everyone equally. The jokes were often above average but the obvious themes grated. Best new section was the 'analysis' of extreme Arab TV. Children's programs etc with unconcealed 'Kill the Jews' messages.

Interestingly, there are issues with the sale of CNNN dvds. CNN is understandably angry about the similarity in name. Unfortunately, for the average punter, that means it is harder to watch.
